Giants Sign Joshua Osich

According to Jim Callis of Baseball America, the Giants have signed sixth-round pick LHP Joshua Osich. Here’s what I wrote about Osich on draft day:

He fell low in the draft due to his injury history (he had Tommy John surgery in 2010), but he bounced back pretty well this year, posting a solid 3.47 FIP (park/schedule-adjusted) in 77 innings this year. Now, obviously, don’t get too hung up on his stats, but he can touch 98 with his fastball (sits between 90 and 94) and while he’s described mostly as a fastball-changeup guy, he has a slider with plus potential. Given his age and stuff, he has the potential to move very quickly through the Giants’ farm system if he can stay healthy. Projects as a reliever.

Baseball America writes that his “power arsenal, injury history and age (22) mean a team will likely put Osich on a fast track to the big leagues as a reliever.”
